This is a following of an assignment I did in English. It was suppose to be about a fairy tale with the three elements in it.
- 90% human-free
- has to have a moral
- animals/inanimate objects get human qualities
I called mine Trickster Trail. It is about a coyote that lives on a path called Trickster Trail. Her legs are super weak and her name is Amari. The moral of the story is that some times the person you don’t expect to come along on your path may become your friend.
Once on a spooky trail lived a coyote by the name of Amari. Amari was cunning and sly. Whenever an animal would go on her trail Amari would yell, “Oh help, oh help! I have fallen in the path and I cannot get up!” The animal would go over to poor Amari and help her up and Amari would say, “Thank you, please stay for supper, please stay.” The animal would stay, and Amari meant well but she kept eating the animals for her supper. One day, in the late fall of 2001, when it started to rain, Amari was walking home with her basket of berries and mints when all of a sudden she fell. Amari cried, “Help me, help me! For my legs are too weak to carry me, I cannot get up!” Not very far away, a fox named Scarlett heard a yell on Trickster Trail. The fox smirked to herself as she walked through Trickster Trail with her head and tail held high. Scarlett saw Amari and said, “What is the trickster of the trail doing lying on her path? Where is your supper?” Amari clawed at the ground desperate to get up. The fox sat down next to Amari and helped her up. “Thank you fox, please stay for I am lonely and for sure I cannot eat you, you are almost my size!” The fox chuckled and agreed to stay with Amari. Amari was happy to have a new friend, and Scarlett helped Amari cook and clean her little home on Trickster Trail. For years Scarlett helped Amari, and Amari helped Scarlett. One day, Scarlett fell ill and could not stand or walk. Amari stood by fetching berries and checking over the fox. One fateful day, when Scarlett was still ill, humans came and set a match to Trickster Trail. Amari was walking past the burning trail with her basket of berries and mints for Scarlett. Amari dropped the basket when she saw her trail was burning, Scarlett was in there! Amari ran straight into the flames and ran to her den. Amari yelled, “Come on Scarlett let’s run! There is a fire!” Scarlett looked up with a heavy heart and replied, “Go Amari, I will be safe. I cannot move. You will die if you stay here. You are my best friend.” Amari snapped back, “No, I cannot leave you.” Amari crawled over to Scarlett and laid next to her. Scarlett curled up and so did Amari as the flames engulfed the small den in Trickster Trail. Fall soon turned into Winter, and Winter into Spring but everything was demolished on Trickster Trail. That spring, a wolf was walking past the den in Trickster Trail with her pups when she saw something unusual where the den would have been. Right where Scarlett and Amari curled up during the fire, embedded in the smoky dirt there were two clear glass heart beads filled with laughter and happiness on one side, and chaos on the other side. Ever since then, there have been reports of a fox and a coyote running around on Trickster Trail forever haunting the paths.
